Legal obligation from September 1, 2026

Electronic invoicing mandatory in France

From September 1, 2026, all French VAT-registered businesses must receive structured electronic invoices. Hiflow prepares you today.

Who is affected and when?

The reform led by the DGFiP requires all French VAT-registered businesses to issue and receive invoices in structured electronic format — via the Public Invoicing Portal (PPF) or a certified Partner Dematerialization Platform (PDP). The schedule is progressive depending on company size.

In parallel, an e-reporting obligation applies to B2C transactions and international exchanges.

1er septembre 2026
  • All businesses: obligation to receive e-invoices
  • Large companies and mid-size companies: obligation to issue
1er septembre 2027
  • SMEs and micro-enterprises: obligation to issue

Frequently asked questions

Is my business affected by the obligation?
Yes, if you are VAT-registered in France and carry out B2B transactions. The reform concerns all French VAT-liable businesses regardless of size — with a progressive schedule: large companies and mid-size companies from September 2026, SMEs and micro-enterprises from September 2027.
What is the difference between PPF and PDP?
The PPF (Public Invoicing Portal) is the free state-managed portal (DGFiP). PDPs (Partner Dematerialization Platforms) are certified private operators offering additional services (automation, accounting integration, etc.). Hiflow, via Flowin, is compatible with both routes.
Is Peppol compatible with the French system?
Yes. Peppol is one of the networks and formats accepted under the French reform. Invoices issued via Peppol comply with DGFiP requirements. Hiflow uses Peppol via Flowin to transmit your invoices securely.
Will PDF sent by email still be allowed after 2026?
No. From the obligation dates, B2B invoices between VAT-registered businesses must be issued in structured electronic format via PPF or a PDP. Sending a PDF by email will no longer be compliant for the affected transactions.
What is e-reporting, and am I affected?
E-reporting is an obligation complementary to electronic invoicing. It concerns transactions outside the e-invoice scope: B2C sales, international sales, purchases from foreign suppliers. You must then transmit data from these transactions to the DGFiP via PPF or a PDP.
Do I need to change software to be compliant?
If you already use Hiflow, you have nothing to do. The Peppol connection via Flowin is built in. If you use other software, check whether it supports structured formats and PPF/PDP connection. Hiflow is a simple, compliant alternative.
Is there an additional cost for electronic invoicing in Hiflow?
No. The Peppol connection via Flowin is included in Hiflow's base price. No optional module, no hidden surcharge.
